Where is gold found? In its natural form, it is found deep in the layers of the earth where it is transported by water, molten lava and volcanic eruptions, and earthquakes. Geologists have found gold in rocks as old as 4.5 billion years ago.
On average, it takes between 10-20 years before a gold mine is even ready to produce material that can be refined.
As well, does gold still form? How is gold actually formed? If we can recall back to our high school chemistry classes, we might remember that in its purest form gold is actually an element, notated by the symbol AU on the periodic table of elements. Gold isn't truly formedâ€”at least, not on Earth.
However that may be, how gold is formed step by step?
The first step is to mix the ground ore with water to form a pulp. Next, cyanide is added to dissolve the gold, and then carbon is added to bond with the gold. After the carbon particles are removed from the pulp, they are placed in a hot caustic (corrosive) carbon solution, which separates the gold from the carbon.
Can you find gold in any river?
Gold exists in extremely diluted concentrations in both freshwater and seawater, and is thus technically present in all rivers.
An international team of geologists led by the University of Arizona has discovered that the gold is around 3 billion years old â€“ older than its surrounding conglomerate rock by a quarter of a billion years.
The first step is finding the right spot in the river where the gold might collect, such as a crook in the bedrock, idle pools, log jams, inside corners of rivers or spaces between boulders. Then start digging, filling your pan with gravel. From there, continuously weed out the bigger rocks and pebbles.
